Trailcraft Trailer

This shows how untechno I am, but I have confused myself. Is a Trailcraft hub and wheel Holden or Ford??

Cheers for this stupid question. Please dont laugh and I am not trolling.

Hey Crasny it took me three

Hey Crasny it took me three goes to find out my quintrex trailer has toranna hubs. Different to the standard holden and ford stud patterns. Even had the guy at Repco scratching his head. In the end took the spare wheel down and physically tried the hubs out.

Identifying Ford & Holden hubs

Tue, 2012-02-14 09:24

These measurements should identify the most common hubs

Distance between centre of studs (stud-to-stud, not across axle centreline.)

                63mm, Holden HT

                67mm, Ford

                71mm, Holden HQ

Hi Crasny1,

Our last boat was a trailcraft and we had all sorts of problems finding a spare wheel.

Ended up buying a genuine, cost a bit but at least it fitted.

easiest way

only ford has 1/2" (12.7mm) studs. Holden has 7/16" (11mm) studs. My Trailcraft trailer has Ford stud pattern.

probably 99% of on road

Tue, 2012-02-14 19:41

probably 99% of on road trailers have one of those two stud patterns. Unless its a special order I doubt youd get a boat trailer with anything else.

For the record though, Im told Ford havent made 13" 5 stud rims since the 60's, all the ones sold now are specifically made for trailers.

Confusing

Tue, 2012-02-14 19:33

Contacted Dunbier today and they tell me I have Ford hubs with Holden bearings.

The stud spacings are 67mm with 40mm square axles. Very confusing and keeping me buying genuine spares!

Plucky I dont think you need buy "genuine" (I assume you mean straight from Dunbier?) That combination is I think quite common and available anywhere like Martins Trailer parts etc

You doing the bearings or just need a spare?

Wed, 2012-02-15 07:25

Crasny

I have a trailcraft trailer and did the bearings before heading up to Dirkhartog. Not 100% sure which it is (its a dual axle for 6.4m trailbalzer) but I can check parts number for bearings if you like from my receipt from Martins Trailers if you like and you can then give them a buzz to check.

Trailcraft trailer

Wed, 2012-02-15 09:39

I have a single axel braked trailer anf the bearings are comon holden bearings, From my parts days and if my memory dosent fail me the indudry numbers are lm11949 (timkin set 2) and 67048 (Timken set 6) which are standard holden bearings and the seal for these is the bog standard trailer seal but you are best to get the boat trailer one as it is more water proof.
Just checked my bearings before posting and these numbers are correct, glad of that as maybe alzymers isnt setting yet!!!

Cheers for the info lads

Thu, 2012-02-16 18:28

Happy Hooker cheers for that kind info. No mate dont stress and bother checking receipts. I have seen the "light" come on in my head and it is Holden ones. The spares I have on the boat is ---- you guessed it, I bought Ford.

That was some time ago and stupid. headed up to Broonme and Lucky I didnt need any, otherwise I would have been up Sh*t Creek.

Thanks all

Neels
