That fish was my biggest in the shallows this year, at 89cm, but plenty of smaller pinks and some good dhu, yellow tail king etc all part of the mix. I was trying to figure out King Geogre without success, but such good fish inshore me wonder how long this has been going on, in depths where it is easy to see the bottom.
Awesome snappa at 89cm Reefsta.
Deepest I have fished this year is 18mtrs with 8 to 9 mtrs being the norm and been doing it for a few years now with plenty of success.
Three things I have to have to drop a line though, a change of tide, fresh bait (god help me if I ever stop at a bloody servo for bait lol) and a placcy at the ready, everything else (clear / dirty water, swell, wind, day or night ) I seem to be able to get around pretty easily.
Yeah, I'm not sure what has worked best for me, as I haven't figured out any patterns yet with tide, time of day/night etc. Just slow drifting where I can see the bottom, with fresh bait and soft plastics. Fishing solo and enjoy the serenity of that sort of quiet fishing mostly. Had to have a sit down and a cuppa after pulling that big pink over the gunwwhale though!
