Alarm

I start doing the checks on the boat and getting ready for tomorrow. I just running it up when an alarm started going off at the control. There is a heap of oil in the reservoir. Its a mariner 75hp 2001. Does anyone have any ideas. I think maybe a sensor stuffed.

Had a Mariner about that vintage myself and had the same problem.

I think you may be correct in your assumptions.

The oil bottle has a sensor in it and on mine it had become detached, as did many others.

Unfortunately it is near on impossible to re attach so I had to buy another bottle. Exy too.

But if you are game enough just bypass the sensor and carry on as normal.

It's common on mercs oil sensor start up bottom of oil bottle there are two wires on conneters pull them apart if it stops it's the sensor if you want to repair you have to buy complete bottle and sensor

Thu, 2012-02-16 19:14

Cityboy it might be oxygen sensor mate .there known for it these motors.theydo need heaps of water thru the muffs as didley said.but the alarm for overheating is continuous.if you get some good muffs you won't have to hold them on right near the exhaust fumes didley.hope this helps
