 Got 72 too.

Don't recall 16 RPM on a record player and have never seen those curb things! My 24 cyear old daughter got a turntable a couple of years ago and has a stack of vinyl. Whatever is old is new again (except me!).

 On the older turntables

Fri, 2024-11-29 11:44

On the older turntables Dave, I think the real old records played at lower speeds.

I still have all my vinyl, and an awesome collection of late 70's early 80's punk

I remember we had one that had 78 but not 16 rpm Andy.

Funny thing with my daughter is she has a whole bunch of albums that I have on CD too! She's into Taylor Swift and some of the current crop but really loves the old stuff too. It's pretty cool.

 I actually stand corrected

Sat, 2024-11-30 15:11

I actually stand corrected with record speeds. Mate I'll listen to heavy metal right through to sopranos. I love it all.

We went to see Waxahatchee last night at the Astor, Alabama girl pure cclass act.

I worked in radio from the 60s through to 80s and never saw a 16 speed turntable.  Very early produced records were at 78.  45s were singles or EPs.  33s were albums.

From memory...

they were an attempt to make an 'extra long play' album.

Problem is at slow speeds  even a slight change distorts the music (wow and flutter)
