Boat insurance

Gotta sort out some insurance for a boat, used to use club marine but wondering how many guys have shopped around and if so have your claims gone smoothly?

SGIO

I have been with SGIO for the past three years with two different boats and found quote wise they left Club Marine for dead. The times I have had to use them they have been exceptional and efficient. That is saying something for an insurance company but true.

For me cheapest has been club marine on 2 out of the 3 boats. Strange that SGIO was cheaper for one of them.

Never claimed on any though!

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Rang club marine and sgio, club marine nearly $200 cheaper on this occasion and answered my call immediately compared to being on hold 15 min with sgio, obviously it pays to look around on a case by case basis though :-)
