HDS transducer opinions

Picking up a HDS 7 this weekend.  While Im of the opinion (and so is the seller) that the 50/200 is going to be the transducer I want, can anyone tell me if it is THE choice in lowrance transducers for fishing 25-80m deep but also in the rivers and shallow bay stuff as well?  Ive found CH Smith recommend the 83/200 for up to 100m which I may get out to up in exxy but not down here.  Price isnt an issue (well to me it isnt, but the mrs will say otherwise)

Personal opinions and experiences welcome.

Cheers

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

i'd get the 200/50 tranny

i'd get the 200/50 tranny only because we all say we are only going to fish shallow depths but why leave it to chance, i had the exact same combo on my old boat and it worked a treat, you could see your line in the display on the drop.

of the choice of 83/200 or 50/200 go the 50/200 it will do the shallow stuff as well as deeper stuff.  I beleive the 83/200 is a single beam whereas the 50/200 is a dual beam transducer as well.

I have the 50/200 and fish mostly in less than 30 meters and its perfect
