If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Awesome fish. I'm on the hunt for them this year as well, trolling and on jigs.

YFT

Tue, 2010-02-02 14:29

Gidday guys, yeah it was a battle and a half. We had a few lines out a couple of 60kg, couple of 37kg and my wee stella 20,000 spooled with 24kg braid, all I can say is that if it had of hit the stella I would have been spooled in about 25 seconds, and if the bigger one we lost that was around 90kg had of hit the stella the spooling time would have been about 15 seconds Laughing

We were using big gear as we went there to catch fish as we havent caught them before.

It took about a hour on 60kg and that was with the swivel at the back of the boat going in and out of the water for 20mins, man they are tough.

I will chuck a full report up tonight.

Cheers Coxy

Interesting to hear you talk about a 20K Stella being spooled that quick. Must have run like a bullet. Do you know what reel you used to catch it with. Prob need a big Tiagra.
