Trim tab question

I'm hoping this is not a dumb question...

When operating the starboard tim tab switch, does it activate the starboard trim tab or port trim tab. I've asked around and had contradicting views.

To me it seems obvious that stbd switch activates stbd actuator but others tell me otherwise

thanks

Hahaha, trap for young players......I fell into this when borrowing Langas Boston Whaler a few weeks ago.

Port switch activates the starboard trim tab and vice versa.......stoopid I know, but the idea is to make it easy for idiots to use......at least that was my excuse!

Thanks, I really thought I was going mad. I had to replace my Benett pump and clearly marked the hoses and checked a dozen times before reconnecting them. The new pump was identical except for the plug which I cut off and reconnected the old plug onto the pump wirring to match boat wirring. I checked, double checked and triple checked, the wires are perfect. With new fluid it was all looking good so I got my daughter to do the honours of pressing the switches on the dash whilst I went toadmire my handy work. After telling her that she does not know her left from right and that I've wasted money on private school education, I'm embarassed to say that this one had me dumb-founded. I eventually switched the hoses to operate stbd switch, stbd actuator, it just seemed logical but now I hear it's not right. I've never been good on those trim tabs so I'm going to leave it as is and see if it improves my boat trimming abilities. If not, it's a 2 min job to change over.

PS! I shall never mention the trim tabs to my daughter, we'll just leave it at that

thanks again!

Starboard switch moves the

Starboard switch moves the starboard bow of the boat up or down by activating the port tab , port switch moves the port bow of the boat up or down by activating the starboard tab.  I`ve found as s long as you forget about the tabs altogether and just think your moving the bow of the boat up or down its easy.

I drove a boat set up with starboard swith operating starboard tab and it really f@#$%^ me up . Gave the wheel back to the owner and concentrated on my beer after a bit.

Thanks marble, you've just answered my question and concerns that I've had when driving boats with trim tabs. When using the trim tabs I'm always thinking about what the trim tabs need to do instead of pressing the appropriate bow up/down switch to get the desired affect. I suppose that's the price you pay from being a cat driver and using the motors only to trim the boat and now converting to driving a mono with trim tabs

Trim tabs

Marbles onto it just look at the pretty picture on the switch it usually shows a picture of the bow with arrows up or down, so you basically look where your going and watch the bow and adjust accordingly and like mentioned just forget about what the tabs are supposed to be doing ..
