Travel jig rod
I have a selection of JM and other jig rods that I usually take overseas with me but I sometimes run into trouble with the size(Length) of the rod tube as they are all one piece. Last time I was transiting in Singapore they wouldn't let me on the MRT train and had to catch an expensive taxi. I fish some remote locations on some trips and it would be good to have sometime I can strap to a back pack to keep my hands free.
So looking to replace my PE8, PE5-6 and PE2-3 jig stick with ones that more than one piece. Would love one with a parabolic action all the way through to the butt.
I know Okuma has the two piece Salina 3 and I have handled one in the shop but a bit hard to tell the action till you are hooked up to a fish that would match the pulling power.
Any suggestion?
Cheers.

Yamaga blanks Galahad
I think yamaga blanks (ripplefisher) has released a
new range of TRAVEX jigging rods which are from pe4 and above....
Haven't used them so can't comment on the action.

Most Japanese jig rods that
Most Japanese jig rods that are > 6 foot are 2 pcs butt joint. PE 8 is most likely to be in 1 piece but PE5-6 or PE2-3 I am sure you still can find butt joint ones.
Example: Daiwa Saltiga Hiramasa 6"3 PE4G is butt joint.
Personally I would stay away from mid-joint 2-3 pcs jigging outfit simply because the parabolic action is compromised, in my opinion.

Black hole do the Cape Cod
Black hole do the Cape Cod special in two piece now. The full length is only around 5'2" and they were specifically designed to this purpose. They have the Butt join. No two piece can be truly fully parabolic due to the join so these ones have a faster action than the one piece black holes. They still bend to the join though and are worth a look.

Will let you know next week how the Salina3 performs.
We are spending a week in Sharks Bay so will be able to put it through its paces.

Personally I wouldn't
Personally I wouldn't compromise if you don't have to.
If you do any casting on your trips, then the top section of your casting rod is likely to be 6' or longer anyway - so having a 6' or shorter 1 piece jig rod in the tube shouldn't make a difference.
I do a lot of long range trips also and all my jiggers are 1 piece, and find that the best investment is a telescopic rod tube (I use carmates) so that you can make sure the tube is only as long as it needs to be, not unnecessarily long.
If you limit your options to 1 piece only, you just reduce your choices so much.
Of course this is my opinion only, lots of guys like those portable rods and if you are trying to get away with hand luggage only on planes or something they might be just what you are after.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
