Help with rod choice

Have done very little jigging, but keen to do a little more and wouldn't mind getting a propper jigging rod.

Will be matched to a 4000 Caldia running PE3 braid

Can't really see myself using jigs much heavier than about 150g for awhile.

Budget would be $200-300, but preferable closer to $200.

I understand I won't be getting anything too awesome in this price range, but can anyone recommend a rod??

Cheers

Diawa CJ64 (CombiJerk) is a nice rod taht would suit your reel and jig weight. I have one and cant fault it.

Price would be probably closer to the $300 mark, but if you shop around you might do better

Jig rod

Hi mate, Yep as mentioned the Eupro giant king PE1-3 is a winner at that price point. We do these for $180 for FW members. We also have the Eupro Offshore fighter, Rated at PE1.5-3 and 6 foot like the Giant king though has a little more guts behind it for turning bigger fish if needed. These we can do for $225 FW price. We have plenty of other options instock too so feel free to drop through and check them out.

Cheers Boydy.

Swung by Oceanside after work

Wed, 2014-04-23 16:43

Swung by Oceanside after work and picked up a Eupro giant king PE 1-3.

Spoke to Dave, he was super helpful about the rod and jigging in general to someone without a clue haha. Also picked me out a jig and showed me how to use a few assists better.

Hope it all goes and I get to use it this weekend!

Went out today for my first time actually jigging.

First drop, with the new rod and jig.... My first ever sambo!

Not too long later I landed my first ever dhu! Was just under 60cm, but swam free to live another day.

Cheers, I was pretty stoked to say the least!

When the sambo hit the decks I was shaking in the hands and couldn't even get the hooks out its gob haha.

Pretty embarrassing to tell

Sun, 2014-04-27 20:51

Pretty embarrassing to tell you how I got that sambo....

I was dropping the jig feathering the line and I'm like

"Man it's really bloody deep here, my jig just keeps going and going...."

One of the boys on the boat was like "dude maybe something grabbed it?"

Closed the bail arm, and the drag started peeling hahaha.
