Thoughts on rotto Friday/saturday

 Gday guys,

Anybody heading over to rotto for Friday/Saturday?

It would be our first time, and with the conditions on seabreeze looking ok,

swell all about one m and the wind for friday being about 10 knots all day, then picking up to 15 overnight till 2pm where it is forecast to drop down to 5 knots for the rest of the arvo.

Might just have a little to healthy respect for the ocean, anybody else heading over?

Would be leaving from hillarys, and leaving the car in the carpark overnight.

My other thought is that the wind on sat arvo, although forecast as low is westerly, would that be super lumpy on the way north?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Also in terms of sleeping onboard the boat was just thinking of going into a bay and claiming a bit of beach to back anchor onto the beach.

Hillary's

Hi josh I have left my car overnight at Hillary's no probs before but when I launched there on Sunday it looked like a lot of cars had been broken into there recently, heaps of glass on the ground so just be careful.

hopefully the water clears up for you too it was really messy due to the large swell, saw a few bait balls on the way over so keep your eyes open

Not a problem

I have a Trailcraft Sportscab 540 and wouldnt have an issue going to Rotto. The only thing to watch out for is speed. At 12knots wind you will be OK, but if you are uncomfortable just slow doing so there is less bang bang.

Gentlemen's hour start

Fri, 2014-04-25 16:45

Gentlemen's hour start launched by 800, cruised over at 15 knots, down to the bottom of the 3 mile, then straightover  to Thompson's Bay, morning tea at the bakery, then a few hours fishing out the east end managed plenty of wrasse, and we both got busted on the reef by something we didn't see, and cruised back .

Just. Need more time to get used to travelling in the following sea and be comfortable doing so

Go over Friday or Saturday?

I went fishing in the sound on Friday and dived on Saturday. Was pretty hard finding a nice spot, that's for sure.
