Camping and Fishing
Submitted by Bisho on Mon, 2011-01-31 18:28
Hi!
Can anyone point me in the right direction for any place where I can camp and fish? Preferably isolated, as in rare or uncommon to see other people. River or beach, fresh or salt is all good. Somewhere I can pitch the tent, wet the lines and sit around the camp fire of an evening!

Don't mind the travel
Somewhere I can get to for long weekends etc. I have a Subaru Forester so the 4WD aspect can't be too extreme I suppose.

National parks
I just spent a few days in the national parks down pemberton way, wasnt fishing but some great 4 wheel driving, camping and virtualy untouched fishing beaches not to mention the trout fishing around there

I only have a Subaru Forester so the 4WD aspect can't be too extreme, what are the tracks like? You mention the trout fishing, are the rivers good for camping?

4wd tracks
I wouldnt call them extreme but lots of fun...as long as you carry the usual recovery items you should be
ok, the main thing to remember is tyre pressures...let em down! not sure about camping round the rivers
but someone will know. I came across a sandhill in the d'entrecasteux national park about 60mtrs long and pretty steep
couldnt get up with 15psi but dropped them to 12 and flew up and theres bush camps all around down there

There are some fantastic
There are some fantastic spots around Dwellingup for camping. I used to go deep in between Boddington and Dwellingup and you have the campsites to yourself and some fantastic Redfin fishing as well.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Drove through there
Drove through there 2 weekends ago but every camp spot was taken. We went from Lane Poole reserve along the river road or track and ended up cruising the murray river fire line but couldn't find any free spots!
Is there Marron in the Murray as well?

Dwellingup gets hammered.
Dwellingup gets hammered. Some mates were nearly refused entry by the rangers one long weekend. Most places within driving distance of perth get hammered on long weekends.

Good spots
Was going to suggest the same spots, easily accessable in the Subi and away from the crowds. Always a chance of a good fish at either site

Thanks all!
I noticed Dwellingup looked fairly punished! I saw a book in a servo the other day called roads and tracks WA I think? I didn't grab it but I'm thinking now I might... South of Augusta sounds good! What are we talking fish wise? Salmon, Skippy, Pink Snapper?
