Baron Sportsman

Hi Guys im about to replace the transom on my Baron Sportsman and are thinking of adding a pod and getting rid of the motor well and 2 formed rear seats to give me more Dek / Fishing Room

While doing this i will make the back deck flat and fit in live bait tanks and cupboard for batterys ect.

Has anyone added a pod to there Baron and has it effected the way the boat handles or sits at rest .

Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

Biggest problem with the baron is the transom layout and what you describe will make it great! Otherwise it's a great little boat.

Don't know if a pod will stuff up the balance but PM user Baron, he and his mates all have them and he was considering radical changes to his at one point.

Same question as you asked before.

Wll adding a pod (outboard bracket) change the way the boat handles? of course it will, it will be a different boat.

Will it be different at rest, depends on weight distribution and added bouyancy.

Infact the performance of the boat will be altered by the design of the pod, added bouyancy and weight distribution.

As you have seen from our transformation, the end result has paid dividends. We not only have more room in deck space but were able to add an inbuilt fuel tank. Handles like a charm in any weather and decreased the overall weight because of removing the old inboard.

Gregrobo,

That is one nice transformation! Your boat made me recognise it is the same as one I have constantly seen on Eddystone Avenue between Joondalup Drive and Ocean Reef Road for the past ten years.

It would be about a 17ft and I don't think it has seen water in all that time. I keep meaning to drop in and say 'hi' to the owner. It only seems to move for the guy to mow under it, lol.
