Not sure about the 30 but have the 50 on mine and cant speak highly enough of it. Never given me a days trouble and well regarded by the marine mechanic that services it. Starts straight away every time and good economy for a 2 stroke.

mate I've got one on my tinny, had it for about 6 years, its never missed a beat.  Give it a few pumps on the fuel line bulb, a bit of choke and away she goes everytime.

It aint no 4 stroke for smoothness and quiet, but its simple and reliable.  All I've done it change the spark plug, impeller, leg oil and greased up the usual points.   In fact I saw a brand new one down at the Mandurah boat show a few months ago and they haven't changed at all.

All good from my perspective

good basic reliable engine

over the last 10 years ive bought 3 of the 3 cylinder 30hp yammaha and its a even nicer engine 100:1 oil mix and a lot smoother idle and quieter at wot, next to no smoke
a litle bit dearer though roughly 7-800 depending on which dealer you use, id say worth the extra
