two rocks 3.2.08

two rocks 3.2.08

fished two rocks for the first time, boat ramp bit of a pain in the back side, bit of a wait, once in the water was a great smooth day, decided to head 20ks out from the end of the lead line, in around 40ish meters of water, started a little slow, found a few spots and didnt manage much then came accross a ridge hooked up a nice smabo, kept it for the neighbours who complain they want fish, then a little later hooked up on a nice dhuie around 6kg , got plenty of sarg backers so kept the bait supply up which was good, managed a few other fish including pinkies and another dhuie about 53cm that went back then hooked up on a good fish off a decent lump, knew it was a good dhuie so took it easy on it, got it up and the net was on the other side of the boat and being alone just decided to reach for the gaff in the rod pockets and gaff the dhuie, would have gone around 11-12kg or so, then decided to call it quits around 12ish to head in for other commitments, so all in all a great start out from an area i have never fished before, so looking to head up there again this week if the weather stays how its forecast and try to get a bigger one.

found some pretty big lumps/ridges and stuff, i think its just a matter of getting out and having a look, i travelled at around 15knots most of the day so i could really look at the bottom and mark things for a future trip, was nearly going to go out to the 100's but i had a good feed, that will be another day i think

Nice effort Matthew for a solo trip and plenty of fillets still, a lot of ground up that way for sure!
