Quick morning fish off Groote!

Well finally after 4 days hard work, its time to play! Left the boat ramp at 5am, and headed up to Bradys Rock about 8 mile away..in hope for some mackie action. Plenty of bait around, but no fish wanting to play. After 2 hours of towing a couple of deep divers around in circles, i decided to give up. Nor easter was starting to blow up, and so did the swell.
Headed towards home, an fished out of the wind behind Conexion Island. Found some likely looking ground, in 10m of water and about 40m from shore. Two quick drifts using tuna as bait, i landed two nice saddletail. Tea was now in the esky, so headed for the ramp. Home by 10am,....hopefully this bloody wind dies off!

tuna
Tuna are like flys at the moment! And the price of bait up here, is very high.

Tuna
is great bait. A mack tuna/striped or even longtail filleted and cut into strips makes brilliant bait for demersals. Use it quite regularly off Exmouth.
Wouldn't use Yellowfin though, mmm sashimi

yep
UNFAIR! Wade is a fish-a-holic! Unfortunately I work Mon-Fri so haven't been fishing in a while, and he's been out there about 10 times since we last went out together! He loves that 4 days on - 4 days off roster.
This weekend is his last weekend working, so stay tuned for some pics of me with some Mackies and Tuna in the next few weeks.
