Hey Guys
Just curious, bit of a dumb question two i think, but i use ramps both in hillarays and north, and cockburn in the south. Im looking to sign up to a volountary sea recuse group, but im dazzled to know which one, whitfords or freo.
When they say i recieve a call sign, does this work with all the volountary sea recues?
or for example VJ6LQ hillarys etc etc where ever i launch my boat? even if it was say ,woody point?
brett

services being towed in from ffb to woodies(lost spark with a faulty ignitor in the dizzy)
he also done the righty and made a small donation for there efforts, as they do not charge for this service.
great work done by all the rescue mobs.

They do indeed. And some
They do indeed. And some great electronics to play with as well. Lots of the training you receive is very relevent to anybody that ventures offshore. Not to mention to ease the burden a little for those who would love to be out fishing as well!

Sea Rescue Call sign
Brett
does not matter who you sign up with. The main reason for signing is that we have all you details on our computer. If you are overdue for example we can look up you details so we can try and contact you by phone. If you are registered with Whitfords but log on with another group that group can call whitfords to get details of your boat and contact number.
Below is the link for details of membership at Whitfords.

Signing up
Brett
pls note it may take up to 3 weeks to process and issue a call sign, as all requests are only done once a month by one of our volunteers.
In the mean time you can still log on but use your boat registration number.

Most of the time the operator
Most of the time the operator will ask for your boat registration after you give your call sign.
Have it handy as bending overboard is a pain in the neck trying to read it.

Yes guys everyone needs to be
Yes guys everyone needs to be aware of the role of all the sea rescue units up and down the coast, they are there to look after all the boaties no matter where you launch. Generally when you log on you call the rescue group of the area. Which ever town/area you are in, take time to find out where to register your details, who to log on and off with and what details they require. To make things easier, make sure that you, your vesssel and equipment is in good working condition before you launch, and try to stick to your plan, if not, let someone know of your changes. Im a volunteer and 9 times out of 10 our rescues could have been avoided, run out of fuel, forgot to put the bung in, radio wouldnt work etc etc etc. Play safe, stay safe.
