SL20shb, red and clear plastic bits, what are they for?

these were in the box, and the only thing i can think of is something to do with controlling the spool speed. I remember someone telling me about changing these on an sl50sh to give you more control over the spool speed until you get confidence/skill with casting.

Anyone know??

There was nothing in the box about them or how to change them in and out..

Sorry cant help ya on the red & clear bits  but i would say the blue plastic piece could in some way be part of a "graphic enhancement tool", possibly a 'Bic' model containing blue ink. I could be wrong, its only a theory. lol  Rob

Hi. Take end plate off

Hi.

Take end plate off reel.
Withdraw spool.

Open end will have a 2. 4. 6 way thing on it. With some of those Blocks?.

They 're probably the mid range ones.
Those look like the small and large.

You controlling it well. Swap out to smaller ones. OR none at all.
Still having trouble. Swap to the larger ones.

If you reel has an end spool shaft adjuster cap on end.

Back it off. till spool with a light weight on end of line. Spins freely.
Tighten it up. till end float on spool. "Just" disappears.

And learn to cast with that setting.

just Lob it to start.
Get used to feel of reel and rod.

Then as you get better. Try for a bit more distance.
Slowly.
Not 100mtrs first time.

That way you'll learn balance and control. AND get more distance than with a spool shaft end restricted reel.

Have fun. and practice with Maxima or Similar Nylon.
