Micro Jigs

Just chasing a few pointers on what smaller jigs work for you guys?

It seems lately i always find my self fishing back on lumps in under 20m of water and out of the 40+ jigs i have got in my bag none of them are under 100gr. So my question is what micro jigs work. I can only really find Ima, Xesta and and Caprice in under 60gr. I am chasing 20-60gr.

Last couple of times i have just used a plain old Halco twisty and jigged that with the slow twitch and caught small sambos lots of under size pinkies and a few under size dhuies.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers Jayce

Try some Spanyid Raiders or Surecatch Knight & metals people normally used for high speed spinning off cliffs and rocks. Remove the trebles and rig it with assist. They'll do the job too.

Micro jigs

Yep Ima Gun jigs and Small caprices work a treat. Used them all up and down the coast and produced everything from Yellow tail kingfish locally to Coral trout up north. Good fun.

When your next in town mate drop through and we can show you which ones.

the ima guns work a treat!

i aint from Aussie but i love using them in malaysia for big diamond trevallies!

u can try out the shout dangan 5g, Evergreen javellin jet 7g or the jackall metal mame 7g!

the mame works the best! but for that u need an ultralight setup! perhaps a 1-4 or 2-6lb bream or bass rod, with a regular to regular fast taper would do!

i work mine with a 2-6lb rod and a 1003 daiwa reel. spooled with PE 0.6-PE1.

the MG craft Skill L jig is real good to!  its 20g

if the usually jigging method doesnt work, u can try shaking the rod tip, while reeling in slowly! just like working a weightless neko or whacky rig for bass

good luck!

I wouldnt really call 20-60g

Fri, 2014-01-03 14:29

I wouldnt really call 20-60g jigs "micro jigs" as these days micros are considered as about 5-20g jigs. Hence why thedw is reccomending a 2lb rod for dhuies lol.

But yeh as I said ive had luck with the imas and caprices in 40g and just used them on my plastics outfit, pe 1.5-2 and 3000-4000 size reel

Cheers for that guys. Seems i may have used the wrong name for the jigs.

I have a variety of combos to use so i have smething for most jigs. Just gotta buy some smaller jigs now and give it a crack.

After having a play with the smaller halco twisties i can see how it has its advantages.. Thanks for the imput.
