What do people think of Inline fishing rods?

Havnt seen this talked about on here yet. Seen a couple of inline rods, and they look pretty cool to me. Im forever getting tangles out on the boat, looking at spending some money on one soon. Anyone on here own one? If so what do you think. cheers wade

Daiwa Interline Rods
I have two, one rated at 20-50lb which has been my No. 1 bottom bouncing rod for probably 12 or so plus years now. I love it, light and grunty with a great parabolic curve loaded up. I run 80lb braid thru it. The other is rated 60-80lb, has had little use and has a softer tip (in comparison to the other) but still has heaps of grunt lower down. I'm amazed they haven't been more popular. A number of people I have fished with over the years have initially been sceptical but have commented on its great action.

Yes your right Alan, i wonder why they havnt taken off. Seen my first one about 2 years ago, and the guy that had it couldnt stop raving on about them. I wasnt aware they were that old Alan.

havent tried them out yet but
dont see hot they would be any better than a normal rod? if it aint broke dont fix it...but each to their own...
guess if theyre no worse than a normal rod then it cant hurt to buy one :)

Interlines
Guides or rollers give point pressure loads on the rod. An interline distributes the load differently (I think, bring on the engineers
). Whether that is good or bad I don't know. As I've said these are 2 of many rods I have including custom Sabres and Calstars but I'm sold on this for a bb rod, not for the no tangles situation just the action.

I've got 2 interline rods
I've got 2 interline rods used specifically for catching bait fish on sabiki jigs. I.e small feather jigs for yakkas/slimies etc.
They are quite convenient because you can wind the sabiki jig right into the rod which prevents tangles.
I haven't had any experience with any other interline rod for normal fishing purposes.

got one of the original baitcasters, great casting rod, but a couple of annoying points led to its retirement - Leader knots, had to be a really short leader or it would not wind in which makes it pretty shite for baitcasting lures, also it had a silly metal insert that was glued/pressed in to the end that would keep popping out/ finally needed a threading tool to get the line through it.
That said it was a really nice casting rod and would bhave made a great drift bait outfit.

i have a diawa interline
great rod for casting but as simon said you cant have to thick a leader because the knots get stuck in the end . they can also be a pain in the but threading the line when you get busted off if you forget the line threader i spent 10 mins once trying to get some 10lb line through

If yu used a dacron wind on theyd be ok. The leader would wind through not a problem.
The Sabiki inlines are good for boats needing the baitchaser ready to go for gamefish baits etc. Whip it out and the stored rig comes out neat.

Yes I have a sabiki interline
And as mentioned above it winds into the centre. Great for live bait and then just wind her up and no tangles from the 3 hooks. I remove 3 because of the law.

Was seriously looking at buying a Daiwa Interline-z for my Pluton but ummed amd aarhed about the EVA rear grip and total lack of foregrip, a mate who fishes with me had one and I was glad I didn't cos (as mentioned before) you're unable to wind on tied leaders (and I can't be stuffed making the dacron jobs) or afford buying them the way I go through 'em and the hook holder is down on the split grip where you hold the rod. Apart from that the action was superb when loaded up.

Daiwa Interlines
Both of my Interlines have substantial triangular foregrips. I don't use windons but I can understand this may be a problem for those that do. I have a snap swivel at the end of the braid and my traces then attach to that.

was speaking to a chap yrs ago about how these rods were developed and for what purpose
i beleive they were designed for fishing in areas round trees to prevent tangles/snags etc, but im not 100% sure on this one
hey guys when u use this in salt water do u have any problems with any of the internal 'parts' if there are any...do u get any salt build up insside ??

Tough rods
I have the old model from Daiwa.
Very hardy rod and good for dingys where you may have to lay it down on the floor and big footed people dont break off rod guides...
