Quobba Anyone?
Submitted by sjc88 on Tue, 2013-04-30 10:34
Hey all
A mate and I will be heading to Quobba for our first time from 24 May '13 to 2 June '13.
At this point we'll be driving up Friday after work and back the first Saturday or Sunday of June (the Monday is a public holiday).
We're wondering if anyone will be up there at that time who will be willing to show us the ropes, or if anyone with some experience up there would like to come along?
At this stage we're heading up in a single cab ute, so if you'd like to come along we'll need to reconsider vehicle arrangements.
Cheers!

Hi,
I went for the first time last November. I recommend trying Camp rock. Just be carefull and wear a pfd as i seen waves come up from a pretty calm ocean. The whole area along there is dangerous, take care

three of us are heading up on friday may 30 for the weekend.
As troopy said - Slices 85g with better trebles and split rings, balloon rigs and plenty of terminal tackle to match. The sharks are a bit of a nuisance.
Depending on the weather will depend on what ledges you will be able to fish.

Cheers for the responses
Cheers for the responses guys!
Would be great to catch up with you both TROOPY and Leemo before or while you're up there.
No idea where we'll be camping at this stage. Thought the only options were the main (?) campsite just North of Blowholes and Red Bluff? If that's the case will probably spend most of the time at the main site and a couple nights up at Red Bluff but that could change.
I've been told SureCatch Knights don't really make the cut for Quobba and Spanyid Raiders are the ones to take. Any others I should look into?

I didnt reaqlly think there was much difference between surecatch and spanyids, just upgrade your splits and trebles

Latest mackie news
One son works on a wetliner out of here and they are gearing up today and off tomorrow morning to chase mackies for the next month. From what they've seen and caught recently, they reckon there are more than enough good mackies about .
Something to look forward to during your time up there.

Hoping for better luck than last year. Worst trip ive had up there, sharks were just ridiculous. Will be trying a few different things this trip.

Everyone will be up there due to the Carnarfin fishing comp!! Good luck finding a spot!! lol...
you will also be dealing with the grey nomads as they usually come up now and stay for a few months up there..
If you are looking for a place to camp, you can also stay at Quobba Station as they have camping facilities and dorms there for hire...
