When I had a 27 in my boat, it was a GME GX294. Just be careful when washing down the boat - they're not the most water resiliant units. If you like to spray a fair bit of water around when washing the helm, suggest you put it in a water proof case. Just IMO and experience of them.
Others may have better suggestions.
If you are up in Joondallup, you could give Rod Pallister a call at Joondallup Boat Shack, if you don't know him, tell him I sent you - he'll look after you for sure!
Alfred, I used to have a 27, when I replaced with a VHF (far better down here), the place that changed them over 'lost' my 27. If I still had it, I would have given it to you.
As said though better with something waterproof, I use the GME GX300. But still dont think they are as good as what they are supposed to be, I am on my second one.
I am headed in the direction of getting VHF license next so I only need the 27mhz for boat to boat. I do already have VHF fitted so at least I am covered in the case of emergency if the need occurs.

Just put a Navman in to replace my old GME that stopped changing channels. Waterproof and most of the controls on the hand peice. At $150 a good buy from Chivers but i am sure anyone will match them.
Alfred I have had dramas with two of mine so far with water ingress. ie water getting in and causing the lcd panel to fog up, or cause malfunctions one way or another. My am/fm radio has also started with the same problem with moisture. These units are only low rated on waterproof, however other than a little spray from the ocean or light spray from the hose they see ne moisture as during winter My console is covered by a tarp.
If I have to buy a new unit at any stage I will be trying the navman.

I have one that you can have. GME 3 years old works good only replaced for a VHF. The old aerial nut is a bit tight on the back of the unit will need to be removed
