Jinxed trailer - #ken third time

OK, this thing is gone. Its a Trailcraft trailer for my 5.4 Sportscab. Ken thing lost its left wheel for the 3RD time. Now I am pissed off. Its a single axle and the boat is parked on Dampier Hill.

Previously replaced all the running gear.

Its Fken jinxed and now I am going to get a new one. Twin axle for the boat. As mentioned Traily 5.4.

I dont realy care because it ruins my hobby, but what is the guesstimate on cost for this please.

On the way out, so sorry no pictures off the fish we were about to catch. Trying very hard not to swear on here, I might get banned if I said what I feel.

Some things just need to go! I wouldn't leave the boat too long on the hill LOL. You may need to relace that as well.......

Neels, when i bought my boat, 5mtr hydrofield, i insisted on a dual axle trailer. It cost me $5000, and i'm not sure on the cost for a single axle, but the peace of mind when towing is worth every penny.

You'll be so glad when you upgrade

ps, my mate upgraded last year to a twin axle drive on, I'll ask him what it cost

Have to admit he spoke from the heart, but that doesnt always go well with the power to be.

Pissed myself a few time at his rants. He is welcome, and he should be sort of proud that out of all the gone ones I remember his name.

LOL

What do you mean you lost the wheel

Sun, 2012-01-15 18:20

wouldn't you just resolve the issue  ...be some dosh to replace whole trailer, being if the existing one is rated for the load ...

Chris the wheel came off

Mon, 2012-01-16 08:13

Bolts worn through the rim??? Was only a very brief vibration and bang. I use to race rally cars and can read vibs in the car if somethings wrong, but only about 10s. I was trying to figure where it came from when I saw the trailer tip and the wheel running on the road.

Bolts in hub totally loose, rim fark$d. Oceanics Offshores Owner live next to me and Nuts helped me , bcause he has heaps of boats and spare hubs and tyres. Was lucky. Some pricks also stole my spare whilst it was parked. Nothing out of the boat. Dickheads.

We were faced with a hub problem, turned into a hub and spare tyre problem.

I think Ill go twin Axle.

Is it ibeam?

Mon, 2012-01-16 06:52

Dont replace the whole thing, if its an ibeam one, you wont get better. Just fit a second axle. Maybe $500 to $1k depending if you do it yourself. Out of curiousity, just the wheel fell off, the whole axle, hub or what? Who serviced it last?

Martins Trailer Parts will sell you all the bits plus plenty good advice. Good mob to deal with, have a loo at their website for info.

Wheel fell off

Sat, 2012-01-28 12:07

Bolts basically had almost ripped their way through the rim. Hub stayed on, but all the bolts in it was wobbling like a fat lady doing a tango.

It is a I beam, and I am just gona upgrade and see.

Just out of interest

Just out of interest leesfishin, did you move the origional axel at the same time, and more importantly how much of a pain was the job?

hi sandgroper,yes the single

Sat, 2012-01-28 11:41

hi sandgroper,

yes the single axel frame that is bolted to the i beam (also attached to your leaf spring) gets removed and you bolt the daul axel frame to the i beam.

you then just bolt every thing together. not that bad a job allow 2hrs .

good job for a sat afternoon and cheaper than a new trailer.

the daul axel helped me in cape leveuqe when i snaped a leaf spring, was able to remove the front 2 tyers an tie the axe up .turned around an drove back to broome and an bought a new spring.( i all ways carry spare spings spares etc when travelling up north now )

hope this helps lee
