Floodable kill tank
So I have pulled the floor up on my leeder and I've noticed there is plenty of space to make use of. I'll make a hatch up front but I am thinking of adding a self flooding/draining kill tank. Got plenty of room for a decent size one. Questions are, is it useful or would I be better off building un under floor esky out of appropriate materials, if I do run a tank do I just need to run a a single fill/drain line from the transom to tank with a screw in bung on the inside of the tank or do I need to run a top and bottom line. Also is there any small fabricators with some spare time to whip one up for me? I've splurged and bought all the composite board as well as some two part expansion foam so I've got some sticky itchy work ahead over the break.

I love my floodable kill tank
Also feel whilst drifting it adds stability. Mine has a large bung so that if I choose I can leave it dry. It empties very quickly via venturi action when taking off

do u use a kill tankIm an
do u use a kill tank
Im an esky ice brine fan, kill, bleed and in brine
I reckon fish only gets stressed in a kill tank which alters the final product taste
which is another reason why i dont buy abatoir killled animals, i kill em in the paddock, then dress , age and package
however studies says less than 2% of people can taste the difference in red meat (or so the claim) both me and the ms can
i prefer a above deck removable esky - just for the ease of cleaning and i have plenty deck space

Only bleed them in the kill tank
Then straight into ice to rapid chill. Often gut them after bleed so I can pack ice into the cavity speeding the chilling process. For gummies I fin them as well before placing in ice

Yep I bleed them in a bucket
Yep I bleed them in a bucket head down or in the water head down then into ice slurry. I don't like leaving fish the chill in bloody water. Keeps the esky and beers clean too

I would be doing a in floor
I would be doing a in floor esky that can be drained for easy cleaning.got one in my boat and works great apart from the self draining, I have a stainless removable tub that I had made to fit. More room on deck. Kill and bleeding in a bucket then onto it.
