Exmouth 19/4/08 - 3/5/08

Me and Amanda have been in Exmouth for the last 2 weeks. It was the best fishing trip we have had so far. The weather was excellent, with 5 days straight glassy days. We caught all sorts of fish Spanglies, Red Emperor,Rankin Cod, Tomato Cod, Spanish Mac, Trevs, Tuna, Coral Trout and my first Sailfish.

Great stuff Simo
A nice spread of great fish. All the better when you can have a great fishing trip with your partner. Nice action shot of the sailfish and some great reds.

thanks Colin, yeah the
thanks Colin, yeah the Sailfish was awesome. I got it on the last day, I was drifting a bait down for bottom fish when it got picked up halfway down. I thought it was shark then the line started to come up and the fish jumped out of the water.
The highlight for me was getting the big red it was 80cm and weighed about 9kg.

we stayed in Exmouth, most of the fishing was from the boat as the weather was so good. only did land based on the first day on the way in at Learmonth and at oysters reef.
mostly launched from the marina as Tanta boat ramp was bad.

Talking to a guy that works at the caravan park we stayed at, he said they have been getting plenty of sailfish by trolling mullet.

I dunno what size mullet,
I dunno what size mullet, but im sure the gardies would work. I found the best bait for bottom fish was cockburn sound squid heads and flaps or fresh fish fillets drifted down.

Top photo's Simo, was good to meet up with you. Sorry we didn't get to catch up more but I was up to my arm pits in fish most days. After all that it looks like you didn't even need to go trolling to get your sailfish.. DOH!! Nice one mate.

You two sure got a good range of fish - all great pics, but the saily ones are crackers! That sea anchor's not doing much! Shows how good it was!
