Christmas Island

Making my first trip next week, staying with friends, Shorefire booked out but luckily my friend has a boat and 4 free days to hopefully put me onto some some firsts( wahoo, dogtooth and sailfish and I wouldn't  say no to a marlin ) any suggestions on must take items would be appreciated, cheers John.

fishing christmas island

we went to Christmas Island and stayed with friends a few years ago. it’s a great place to visit and the fishing was pretty full on, wahoo and yellow fin tuna were mainly what we caught. because the water is so deep we didn’t fish the bottom we only trolled lures, I tried a little jigging and tried throwing a big popper from shore but had no hits. Most of the coast line is too dangerous to fish from shore unless you were taken out by a local. We did most of our fishing from the boat.  We had never caught wahoo or yellow fin before so that was great fun. We also lost a few fish they were just too big, we went out for a day with Hollywood charters, great guy and we had a great day. I have attached his web site for you and I have attached the you tube of my black marlin I caught while fishing out with Hollywood. We found fishing around the tide changes worked the best but that’s just the same anywhere you go. You also don’t have to go far just  trolling around the fuel buoys you will get wahoo for sure.
