Does anyone know of a brilliant black bream rig for fishing around snags on the serpentine river, I've spent time usin a simple bean sinker to hook rig lately with little success.

Did you put bait on the hook?
Did you put bait on the hook? LOL. Try using little or no weight if possible, I used to leave the rod and watch the line, using small circle hooks, just a gentle lift of the rod when one takes off with it worked everytime for me
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

when fishing for bream i use
when fishing for bream i use 8-6lb braid then tie that to 2-3ft of flourcarbon leader(6-12lb) then straight to a hook, no sinker no swivels. i use this set up for fishing with bait, SP and hard bodies. i also do what callum suggested, i leave abit of slack in the line and i watch the fish play with the bait, then pick you time to strike.
