Hey mate, nah i didnt end up getting it in.I got a number of hook ups the same and in the same spot.just runs flatout and to what seems to be the reef and cuts me off in the same spot.I end putting on 120lb mono and tryed again but only got a massive turtle, bloodly turtle power, couldnt stop it.

Leverage

Mon, 2008-09-15 20:13

How's the leverage working against him there. A lot more pressure on the angler than the fish.

Great pic.

major Hookups

Tue, 2008-09-16 09:08

I get hookups like that several times each trip out. I have never landed one though and I can guarantee I will be making a new rig after each one. One of these days the plug will come out!

This guy can have this spot all to himself. If I need a fish that badly I will use silverbait at Kailis Bros.

Cheers, Vince

check the angle between the alvey and the first guide!!! those long rods are painful to watch i remember reading an article in wangler where Gary Wotherspoon did some load tests of surf rods and the pull on the fishes end was like 2.1kg and the pull on the anglers end could be 15kg or something like that !!
