Sambo or Possible Amberjack?

Got this guy Sunday morning along with some others that had the dark blotchy pattern that i have seen in Sambos before.
Is this just a Sambo with a different variation in colour or something else? Amberjack maybe?

I call it for a sambo.
I call it for a sambo. Nothing wrong with a feed of fresh sambo at all. Great in a curry or with a lemon saucecas the flesh is a bit firmer.

This guy went back, have tried Sambo before and it wasnt too bad, but i dont eat enough fish to justify keeping one.

Sambo
Samson fish have around 23-25 rays in their dorsal fins, Amberjacks have 29-35 rays.
Eating quality depends on what time of the year, during mating season the flesh can be quite mushy

Sambo, at that size and from
Sambo, at that size and from what I have caught the Ambers are really well defined and coloured from a Sambo.

Thought as much from the ID guide, really thrown by the colouring.
Pulled hard on 20lb gear, would be interesting to hook one of the monsters ive seen on this site.
