New stick to try out, Topaz kayak 6 to 10kg 4 foot rod with new Sol 3000 and RCS handle (same as my other 1 just love em!) Running 20lb bass hard braid. Had some fun with this on the weekend on tapouts boat.

Yeah something like that...
Yeah something like that... lol
Don't think that rod is giving out much grunt on that fish, used the same rod in 40m once with my sol 3000 and got smoked by something big, but have caught some decent snapper on it.

haha 4lb outfit, you may
haha 4lb outfit, you may have well used cotton for line!
Have thought about tackling sambo's with that outfit, but am a bit weary about breaking the sol 3000, do you think it would be ok to fish with it for sambos on 20lb? or would you get issues with the reel later on down the track?

yeh a bit silly!
Yeh i was going a bit silly with 4lb, Honsu had plenty of laughts as i'd say i'm gaining line then the sambo would burn me
Honsu was using 10lb Sufix braid, 20lb on the SOL 3000 will be fine....fun too

Nothing Daiwa cant fix :)
Nothing Daiwa cant fix :) hahahaha naq dean ive got heaps of sambos up to 15kg on mine so far and let me tell you its fun! I sent one of my sol's to daiwa the other day and they said it was sweet as and it didnt really need a service! I think its well over due because ive been catching the larger fish on it with nearlly locked drag but hey ity still works ok! IMO you shouldnt do it all the time though because i think i will stuff it soon :)

Yeah, sweet reels they need
Yeah, sweet reels they need a RCS knob for comfort, but apart from that they are good. plus they have a pretty good retrieve rate so winding from 90m or so isn't to bad, want to get up north and get a few GT's on one.

yeah 90m is alright, caught
yeah 90m is alright, caught a few snapper on it - nothing huge. I will rarely use it for Bottom Fishing anymore as if you get a decent dhuie or baldie they head for home normally their hole or something and you generally get pinged.
Will give a go jigging West Rotto on it, and also hopefully a workout at the fads.

Yeah mate sweet reels on the fad's, driftbaiting and light work but ive found its great on my 6kg outfit for snapback throwing for pinkies etc! Smooth drag and more than enough grunt to give em a bit of "come here" when needed.

Yeah thought I could do the same with another 3'6" rod that I had called Shotgun, Semi snapped it half way up the rod on a dhuie. So araldited it back together and lost the whole top of the rod on a Sambo.
P.S. never putting a rod in my mouth again, tasted like bait
