went out last weekend, got onto a cple of massive schools of dhuies, even had dhuies swimming up with the hooked dhuie, never seen before ever
had to move a cple times due to tourists coming in to ping, but we bagged easily..
took 6 big dhuies 2 big snapper, the snaps were from country a mile away and it was loaded , we went there whilst boats were trying to ping us, then went back to dhuie ground to finish off..
all were between 9-15kg and we released a few
sounder was whited out with schools// all dhuies on 2 spots.
amazing morning

Good stuff
Great report Harro. I've seen it once before; brought up two dhuies and a snapper (all legal and released) from one drop. Line was going nuts with three fish on it.
Great to see that you moved away so the school wasn't raped.
Three days without it and I get a little jumpy

Schooling Pinkies
Out of Gnaraloo spotted a school of pinkies in 200 feet of water that showed up bright red on the sounder screen from 30feet right to the bottom, was 150metres in diameter.Dropping a rig with 2 hooks and a 20oz sinker and it would only get to around 100ft before it stopped dropping. The bag limit was 10 snapper then,it took son[deepwater] and I eleven minutes to catch our limit of 20 fish

Hey well done Harro, you
Hey well done Harro, you obviously no all the good spots down that way.
Dragged my boat down to the Capes on Sunday and had a fantastic day catching and releasing nearly 30 different species of fish with my mate Garbo. It was my 1st time down but not my last.
We took home some nice Black Arse and found a sandy patch that produced a 49cm Flounder as well as a 51cm Flathead. On top of that we managed to troll up a Tuna on the Bommie just in front of Sugerloaf but lost it at the boat.
All good fun.

no dumper
thats matty, he works for damo,
fishing buddie of mine..and he dropped a cple of corkers that day(sorry damo had to tell haha),
but also caught his bag limit of dhuies..
good lad
yeah bluetonic, i met damo in bunbury the other day whilst we did the initial on the new library, said you got 30 species, did u go west off cape or in the bay?
taken me years to find decent stuff, and i think i,m on # 8 boat ..lol
basically going further out to the banks or the old coral lumps, you find your own ground
we tend to fish flat ground nowadays with little flares/edges etc,and work the sounder until we see life saves on tackle and usually no-pickers /sh#t fish
plus i learnt alot from a cple great ol mates, 2 being ex-pros and 1 used to skipper a charter back in the day,
we usually don,t take bait, just get herring on the way out, perfect fresh bait
then the odd sargent baker always works well

G'day Harro, because it was my 1st fish off the Capes we fished no more than 5 NM off Sugarloaf. Will venture out wider next trip but we had plenty of fun.
