Finally!

Well, after being on my list for ages, I finally nailed a KG down in Walpole :D. At just over 28cm, plenty of room for improvement, but they still taste great and we got a feed. We found a patch of them, and I was determined to catch them on artificials. I got heaps of bumps on gulp worms crawled across the bottom, but hardly any hookups at all. Even broke out the fly gear but the same thing (good takes but no hookups). Must try something different next time. The school were all 28-30cm, while less than 100m away, another boat was getting them all just under 28cm, so at least we got a good patch :D

still getting report od mobs of bream in the Frankland...
hitting the blackwood this weekend as it's should be spawning time so fish should be congregating........

Nice to see the photos up Matt! After you left and just before we left we spoke the coalmine beach caravan park bloke and he told us that the inlet was still to dark for big schools of kg's but at the rivermouth where the sandy beach was, people were using a leader straight to the mainline with no swivel and a running sinker right down to the bait. If they hit the bait and pick it up and it twists to easy they spit it. Anyway they reckon blokes were getting 40 cm bream and kg's there all the time.

nice work Matt. I've caught a lot of good ones on placcies (mainly worm style) back in SA. You should try fishing some of the open ocean beaches with sand/weed patches and chase some of the bigger specimens, they go great on the light gear.
