Boat leans port (left)
Submitted by Josh on Mon, 2014-04-21 18:38
I have been noticing that the boat (580 trailblazer, 115 merc 2 stroke) is hanging on the left hand side, not riding level. Could it be to do with the fact the small fin under the cavitation plate behind the prop is straight, not turned? If so how should it be turned. I think it might be due to the fact of that little fin is supposed to counteract the rotation of the propeller? But I am no marine expert, just chasing some advice.
Thanks.

Bit more info required.
From the photo, the boat certainly is leaning heavily to the port, but the tab may not be the reason.
Do you have a non feed back helm, I.e. can you let go of the helm when underway? (can be hydraulic or mechanical). Or do you have to hold the wheel at all times to counter a tendency of the boat to pull to one side.
At rest does the boat sit evenly on the water or is it still leaning.
You could have a weight distribution problem,or that trimming fin on the motor cavitation plate may be mounted slightly off, or it could be flexing under load. The motor may not be mounted verticaly to the hull.
What about more pictures, but of the boat especially from behind, but with the motor straight inline with the keel.

Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.
