Hey Captain Bernie do you get many Striped Marlin up Coral Bay/Exmouth way? I know you can get a lot of small Blacks up north and Blue Marlin out at Rotto trench but are Stripies rare?
No not a lot of stripies, lots of blacks and the odd Blue, bust last year when I did one of my Monte's trips had lots of Blues up, and they were big. Hoping to do a few charters later in the year just to target blues.
Is there anything in particular you look for Bernie when heading wide? A stripey and a blue are the two fish left on my 'to catch list' in Exmouth and I really want to cross one off come Chrissie Time. Are there any spots which are better than others, drop off's/upwellings etc? Are you also looking for bait/birds out there or is it more of a just go and they will be there somewhere?
I'm looking at the connection around mid picture. I'm guessing lure leader to leader? I think I saw a similar set up in one of your other photos. Can you explain?
Do you mean wind on leader? If so, you require a wind on leader to a clip, and on the end of the lure you will need a crimped end with a plastic circle. I have a metre of 400lb leader on my lures, going to a plastic end which is crimped and then that connects to a wind on leader with a ball bearing snap swivel on the end. Hope this helps!

You are correct "Kamo King" and the pec fin is longer and slender than blue and blacks, it was estimated at about 45kg

Stripeys are nomadic, never
Stripeys are nomadic, never know where you are going to find them. Might find a blue between the steps and oils rigs. Look for steep drop offs.

One question please Bernie
I'm looking at the connection around mid picture. I'm guessing lure leader to leader? I think I saw a similar set up in one of your other photos. Can you explain?

Thanks Bernie
I get it now. It's a snap swivel to loop connection. Having a one metre leader on your lures explains it. Cheers.
