Big Blue to christen the new rod
Submitted by Chris fish on Sat, 2017-08-19 19:46
Did a quick mercy dash to the south coast for the tiniest break in the winter weather to test out a rod I have been waiting ages to arrive. After having trouble with short or to low of a rating rods I bit the bullet and went all out and bought the best. Busted fishing sorted me out with a New Zealand made Maven fishing coast series rod 10ft 37-45kg rod. Impressed is an understatement and what a fish to call its first!!

Still needed the gaff as this was a 16-17kg fish and was not easy in rough weather. I'll share the video of the fight and landing soon when I edit it up a bit.
