Thats a catch to be proud of. what are these species of fish like to eat ?? and after catching such a large fish is that all you take for the day ? is there a limit on these fish as i have never really heard or seen them before. Im thinking of trying deeper water , these can be caught local , i thought they were caught in much deeper water is 100 metres common ?
over here they are in a lot deeper waters than in new zealand. even over east from what i have heard are caught in shallower waters. over here you got to be in at least 250mtrs
Bass are magnificent to eat.....and actually freeze really well....this Bass was taken as bycatch while targeting Yellowtail Kingfish on jigging gear. In NZ, where this one was caught there is no limit as far as I'm aware, as these fish suffer severe barotrauma, they are unable to be released. If we keep getting nailed by Bass and Hapuka...we generally move areas to get back onto the Kingies....
