This is what the southerly looks like when it comes in and people wonder why old fart and I don't go fishing. We were up there till the 20th of January this year, and it came in as early as 9.00am in the morning. People were getting up real early to go and do their cray pots before it blew other wise they couldn't go out or if they did, pull a pot and then drift half mile from their spot.
Top right hand corner is the start of the corner break and you can see by the horizon its ugly.
But unfortunately some people went out early and stayed out till lunch time. To me mst inconsiderate for the volunteer sea rescue crew in Leeman, that may have to go and look for them in those conditions.
and being low tide they the waves were really sitting up, especially if you came through the souther passage, cray boats don't even come through there, they come around the green marker further north.
Did you see Cockburn Sound on Saturday afternoon with the southerly blowing ha ha , went down to watch the surf kiters and the sound was really and truely stirred up, looked like 2 to 3 foot waves and some idiots came in.
