apparently if you fill up your dingy tank (today ) , you have to remove it from the dingy if your pushing into your 60s as i am it can be a struggle geting it in and out , what is wrong with just filling it in your dingy , in my opinion no different to filling your car or a big boats fuel tank or are i missing somthing

Can't say I've heard of that
Can't say I've heard of that Pete, are they making you put it on the ground? I know you can fill small cans etc while holding them due to static electricty.

Been that way for years
Was only reading the rules (again) this morning filling up. "All containers being filled must be on the ground" (Earthed)?... also.. "You are not allowed to get back in your vehicle whilst re-fuelling" WTF?

Been that way for several
Been that way for several years, I used to just yell at them that the fuel tank can't be removed and then they turn the pump on. A full fuel tank is a pain to put back in the dingy and guaranteed to lose skin off the knuckles.
what pisses me off more is my local servo asking me to remove my beanie or jumper hood at 3am when I'm waiting at the servo door to pay for $200 in diesel for the Prado and $150 of fuel in the boat. Same bloody worker every time, like mate you know my boat, you see me come here every weekend at the same bloody time to fill up my car and boat and you want me to take my beanie off when it's cold as shit in the middle of winter? If I wanted to steal from them I wouldn't be waving cash trying to pay for the $350 in fuel and diesel.

Just need to find a servo
Just need to find a servo where someone cares less about their job and will just turn the bowser on.
I only really used to have issues filling 44's on the back of a ute. Sometimes it can take a couple of servos before you find a good one.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Just find an earth
You should be able to just bring a cable with clips along and clip it from anywhere on the boat/trailer to one of the earth stakes or tap at the servo, thats what we do at sea rescue when filling the 10+ jerry cans in the back of the truck, just remember to unclip before driving off :P

high-density polyethylene
I have an abundance of new 20l fuel containers and I have started filling 2 of them on cheap fuel day at Ampol to get me through the fortnite.I do not take them out the trailer and have yet to have an issue but would argue the fact that there is no static. Now I am 60 I fight the grumpy old man in me every morning but at least I can wear socks and sandals and it is O.K. to do this in public.Good to see you back pete
just do it.

Was never asked to remove my fuel tank when I had my old tinny.
The 44 gallon one we've been done with a number of times. Apparently nothing portable over 20L is permissable to be filled at servos, you're meant to go to a fuel supplier to fill 44's.

Clause 7.6.3 of AS1940
Clause 7.6.3 of AS1940 identifies the requirements for filling of containers with flammable liquids at service station fuel dispensers as follows:
7.6.3 Filling of containers at dispensers
Flammable liquids shall not be filled from a service station’s fuel dispenser into a container unless-
The capacity of the container is not greater than 25L; and
The container complies with AS/NZS 2906 or equivalent Standard, or is reasonably leakproof, metal, and has a tight-fitting closure; or
The container is an approved fuel tank for a boat.
Any container shall be on the ground whilst being filled, and not in a car boot or the back of a utility vehicle.
Approved portable fuel tanks for boats may be filled in situ.

Been like that for close to
Been like that for close to the last twenty years. I have a 45 litre tank that they wouldnt let me fill in the boat, so next time took 3 of 20 litre tanks , with the intention of pouring them in the bigger tank . Was then told I couldnt fill more than two twenty litre tanks at any one time,.
If it wasnt for the very cheap fuel, I would have gone elsewere.
last Wednesday , diesel was 223 local, and only 185 with the 4 cent discount at Pinjarra, as I needed 160 litres, it was woorth the extre 10 minuite drive .
