how did you go?
Hey Brad
All the guys that have been there before say i picked a good year to go down weatherwise.
Monday we fished out east of the inlet with the spearo's and got foxfish and swallowtail and a nice blackarse (on line)The one freediver on our boat got the biggest cray i have seen in fairly close to the inlet and a nice size blue.....something im not sure if they call em blue cod/groper??
We fished around chatham is on the tues and the point on the way back. Picked up one good size pinky a dhuie a few nice blackarse, Some swallowtail and some foxfish.Had a couple of nice hookups in close to the point that ended up parting the line.
Wed we took mum out and had another good day on all the species above except no dhuies.
thurs was a pretty ordanary day out there and it was pretty rock and roll but we managed a nice pinkie and caught a couple of sambos (released) at the bombie behind saddle is.
Nice place, not a place i would of thought of going to except i was invited. I will be back though.
Only managed to park the boat on the sandbank once, got caught out with the sun in the eyes and was only going slow. Started getting shallow so lifted the outboard and because the wind and tide was rushing in got blown straight on the sand.Still thats what deckies are for. took a fair bit of effort and had a few boats offering tow ropes and whatnot but got off no worries.
All in all a good few days had by all and a bit of tackle left behind so i can support my local angling store and spend some more money, clean the boat and then its off to shark bay in three weeks time. Hardly seems worthwile unpacking.
