Three Strikes
Not much of a report - but I figured I would share my struggles in case it makes anyone else feel better about their fishing ability !
Went out today from Rockingham, cruised out 20nm @ 0600, conditions were magic but the current was ripping as hard as I have ever seen it. The sea anchor wasn't working as it seemed to overtake the boat. Tried to anchor but the current was so fast we couldn't hold ground. I'm hardly a veteran at the bottom bouncing game but that was the fastest I have seen the water moving out of rockingham ever.
Changed spots (several times) and seemed to escape the current only for 1x massive cuttlefish. Hard to complain when the conditions were so good.
So... that's my 3rd outing in a row where the eski has come back empty ! Wife is starting to question if we really go fishing !
I'll admit, the last 3 times I've been out have been labelled as "low fish activity" on a solunar website - so either the spots I have are fished out or there really is something to the solunar theory about fish !

Thursday
We went out on Thursday and like you on Friday, I have never experienced current like that. I have a Minn Kota with spot lock. When ön virtual anchor, our lines went out 30 degress behind the boat. Was not nice fishing. Was actually better drifting even without a sea anchor Tried the fads first but nothing, then fished some marks on top of the bank on the way back. Managed 1 baldie. Mate Steveboy in his boat did much better. Nice 94cm Dhuie plus 74cm dhuie and a baldie, but very hard work.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get an idea of state of the current before bothering to go out
Cheers

Erici, our lines were the same on anchor and we had some serious weight on the lines. Couldn't beleive it !
Any ideas what that current would be? And is it unusual ?
Sounds like the fish are still around! Do you take any notice of the solunar tables little Johnny ? Be interesting to hear if the bite dying down coincides with a period of supposed slow activity.
One positive is that it means I just have to keep "practising" to become a good fisherman !

I just go on weather
I don’t like out going tide or incoming tide all day. I like tide changes half way through day that way you get upcoming/still /and out going. Best days I’ve had . Prob goes with charts unsure . Never look at them. Same for mullaway ( booby tides) 2 changes ( look like boobs) fresh bait right spot . I honestly don’t know.i suppose it’s what you believe in . No science on my behalf

That's it with the bad luck,
That's it with the bad luck, they say it comes in threes .
As far As the ripping tide goes I think we have all had that before and definitely not fun. But we still persist.
I never worry about the so called good and bad fishing days goes on the chart , one of our best metro fishing days was on a day that was marked as the worst . And on a good fishing day we couldn't even nail a wrasse . Better luck next time with t he change of innings
