Summer feeds

Last few outings have tried inside FFB for pinkies without luck. Trips have been saved by tailor around the inshore reefs and a modest but steady catch of reds from pots placed on reefy habitat in 12-15m. The tailor are getting ready to spawn, so maybe they'll head off soon

I do like them on the grill same day. Prefer it to cray myself. Been smoking some too, which makes for great snack on crackers and lasts a couple of days in the fridge. Last few months have come across a few most trips, but not always in the same spots. Lots of fun casting lures into the washes, until a sambo engulfs one, then it is usually game over and lure gone!

Reds still steady
Been going out once a week the last month of two and pulling my 2 pots on FFB (about 15m) as part of the outing. The reds have been consistent, with a few each weekend. Occasional wobby or occy. Have been averaging 6 keeps from the 2 pots. Last Saturday got 10, which is better than some of the catches I had during the whites run.

Yeah reds have picked up for me last few weeks afew bigger ones too. Put fresh ropes on the pots on Saturday my boat will be alot cleaner this weekend.

Did exactly the same
Changed my ropes a week back too, after six weeks, as they were getting slipperly to hand haul and lots of slimy weed in the boat. Much better now. Has certainly been interesting and plenty of crays, but a bit of work still. Also wondering how long before the worms chew my wooden slats. Probably give it another 2-3 weekly pulls then pack things away.

I'm dropping down to 2 pots, but they will pick up again soon. Saying that have a good stock of Crays in the freezer.

Nice mate, we got 8 crackers
Nice mate, we got 8 crackers today and oddly 2 were whites. Also a jumbo of around 3kg my guess, she was huge but tar spotted. She was living in apot we had'nt been able to pull for about 3 weeks due to the floats being tangled underwater. Was excellnt vis today so we got it with the reef anchor.
Had a Whiting fish about 30 good Sandies and one Flattie

Great catch. Those bigger ones seeem to be a frequent item lately, although I've caught none >2kg. Decided to bring in the pots today after taking 4 more crays. Need to find some new recipes. Likely wait a few months at least or maybe until November for the whites. Have noticed the occys taking their share the last 2 weekends, so must be a few big ones around now, but thank goodness no more wobbys or Port Jacksons! Fingers crossed for a summer mackie now.

Yeah one yesterday no legs,
Yeah one yesterday no legs, I reckon we probably saved it from an Occy. I made a crayfish dip the other day which was insane, Finely chopped up cooked cray,finely chopped red onion, good quality Mayo, lime juice and fresh chopped dill. Mix up refrigerate goes well with a nice Semillon.
I'll give my pots till Easter latest.
Funny I was thinking the same re Mackie, weather looks good for a troll next Saturday hopefully.
