Hi All
Will be arriving at Steeps to camp on the beach for the week 30th of April. Anyone else be around then?
First trip up there and looking forward to it. Will be bashing the bay from a 3.7m tinny.
Any tips or tricks for a noob to the area are welcome.
Cheers Jayce

fish a running ball sinker down to your hook .
5/0 hoodlums are good and 100lb trace.
start collecting crabs of any kind you can get they are dynamite bait also strips of Charlie court is good and stays on the hook.
and don't leave your bog roll in the Dunny as it unravels in the wind and Paul gets cranky ha ha.
good luck

The bar out from Monkey Rock
The bar out from Monkey Rock can be good, though I don't tend to fish there, a number of others I go up with do.
I like fishing black rock, though could be too dangerous in a tinny.
Reefs on the bottom of Dirk Hartog can have some interesting catches, and plenty of Black Snapper.
Just make sure you familiarise yourself with the sanctuary zones.

Butterfish.
The more the better for bait.
Don't get involved in feeding your fish frames to the sharks out in the channel, like so many do.
Big nasty bull sharks there now will have a go at the motor, in a small tinnie it could end badly.
They expect to be fed because so many folks do it at the end of the day.
As soon as you pull up they are there.
Had to save my crew from a hungry one last year when it took a liking to the Johnno on the back of my 4.2m Savage.
Enjoy the trip, it is a great location.
Try the bays on the east side of DHI, there are nice Baldys to be had in that area.
Cheers & Stay safe

Anchor and berley up and use
Anchor and berley up and use unweighted baits. Catch some butterfish for either fresh fillet bait or livies. The broken weed beds in the bay hold good squid, some perfect bait size others good for salt pepper squid with dinner
Fish! HARD!
