Got this guy ou the back of 3 mile reef. Man these tuna go hard. Everytime he saw the boat he just took off for another run. Stoked!

I initially thought it was a YFT due to its yellow fins but was quickly corrected and numerous debates erupted about SBT LT and YFT following these comments haha. Caught on a small x rap. Had a hook up the other day on a small smiling jack. mate got it to the boat but spat the hooks. devo...

Yeah bowds obviously they have the yellow fin, but if you look at a yellow fin in real life they have alot of yellow on their body. Long tails are actually a bluefin tuna I can't remember which one. I am guessing southern off the top of my head

longtails were known as northern bluefin tuna but was changed to longtail as not to confuse with the 'true' northern bluefin (atlantic bluefin)

I just usually cut them into steaks after cutting the blood line out of the fillet and then marrinade in a bit of red wine and garlic or whatever you like and bbq like a beef steak so they are pink in the middle.  really tasty and filling not to mention good for you.  there are a million ways to cook tuna but its good for a change.  I freeze the steaks also and no probs when defrosted

need a strong knife to fillet those longtails are probably bulletproof!
