Hi Guys,
Heading to Exmouth in a couple of weeks and want to know what line you would recommend for trolling. Have got a Tyrnos 20 which i was planning to spool with 15kg Berkley Big Game. My mates recon its to light for Mackies etc. Whats the best leader etc for lures as well.
Cheers

Stren gold is good line, and
Stren gold is good line, and 15kg will be fine IMO
normally people use a 300-400lb wind on leader (richter) and most also use 100-150lb single strand wire about a foot long, from lure to a swivel.

15 kgs is heaps for Mackies,
15 kgs is heaps for Mackies, but some of the Tunas and Beakies might give you some trouble. Go any heavier for Macks and you'll be bringing them in green which can be a bit of a problem (but is still preferable to losing them to the boys in brown coats), as Dean pointed out wind on leaders are an advantage for controlling fish boat side, I generally use 100 - 150lb, and the foot of single strand wire is good. I'm still sticking with the ole Platypus Pretest but haven't really tried anything else, a good Aussie product IMO.
Have fun in Exxie mate and I hope the weather gods shine upon you.
Cheers Mick :-)

Wire
Wire for any mackie lures. For my 15kg mono billfish I go 200 pound wind on. For mackies just go a 100 pound leader on your bimini to your clip swivel, that will suffice. 15kg is plenty for mackies, I run 10kg on my tyrnos 30 and it bowls them over, to the point they're not really much fun. Mind you, I think mackies are piss weak on anything over 10kg line, one run then gaff, yawwwwn...

Yawn...........
Haven't Caught Enough Fish Trolling To Use 10kg Line, So 15kg Will Do This Time.
Cheers For The Advise.

I just tie on enough leader
I just tie on enough leader with a bimini/GT knot combination so I can get a few wraps on the reel, that's what I call a wind on leader, those flash Dacron jobbies are good to if you don't mind spending the dough.

Yeah 15kg is heaps on your
Yeah 15kg is heaps on your tyrnos 20 (good reels) and stay away from wind ons they work ok until one lets go. Like daisy said, i use a 1.5m bimini to gt knot then 4m of 100lb and 50cm 100lb singlestrand wire to lure. Loose the wire for billies and upgrade leader to 5 or 6m long and 200lb. the tyrnos 20 will handle sailies and small to med marlin no worries. Just take it eay youve got plenty of line there and set your drag right and dont touch it youll be fine.
