Latest Content changes
Hi Guys/Gals,
We've made some serious changes to the latest content page - removing the author, time created - latest comment details as we think that is what is causing the database to meltdown. Since doing so it looks a lot better, but will ask you guys to comment on speed issues. If it is the problem, then I will look to make small changes like adding the author of the thread back and start playing around with it to get as much info but without compromising speed.
I know the new change may take a little while to get used to, but I'm sure most of you will agree that if its constantly fast then its much better and its not like the topics aren't available.
Anyway, please let me know about the speed and if its better for you guys.
Cheers,
Adam

It is better now for sure
Interesting though, that the random image section is functioning as usual, i.e , not cycling through different photos.

Mmmmmmm? Not a big fan.
Mmmmmmm? Not a big fan. I prefer the old setup personally. For me it's not a huge time difference loading latest content still. I think it is still slower than pre changeover.

Would like to see the author
It is a huge Country. And you do get to know the people in your area.
Tend to look at what they have to say and comment on.
Now I dont know if Jay, Webby, Daisy etc had a comment or post.
I would like to see the Authors back. Some have quality, others well a pinch of salt.
If Mick (Daisy) posted something I always look.
I just think if it cant be authors, make it regions. I have no hope off catching a KG in Kcity, and a bloke in Albany has no hope of catching a NW blowie!!!! (I hope not).
And Bookmarks, but I will go with progress.

big improvement
on the odd occasion refreshing the latest content takes a little longer than before but 9/10 it loads nice and quick.. agreed with maybe trialing it with the author back in there, no real need for the other columns..

yea... I gotta say, i still
yea... I gotta say, i still rather the old way. Author back and i always use lastest post. I dont see it no more, as im using my phone to browse i tend to not check out latest images. So it has always been easy for me to use latest posts as to latest content.
It is faster now, but i would sacrifice speed for conveniance.
With the dates, its good to know how current the thread is before having to go into it. Wont the threads move up in list if anyone comments on an older one by accident? I dunno, if you have to enter a thread to see dates and author, it actually would take longer to browse the site. So really the forum speed + browsing speed, will round to about the same.
I say dont change what is already working well.
