How to tenderise your Cuttlefish....and observing a feeding Dusky - Video!

Did a couple of dives last Saturday.  One was at Jackson Rocks near Rottnest.

Highlights of the vid;

*listen out for the ‘boofing’ of the Dusky as he feeds.  Hence no music for this vid.

*watch the Cuttlefish arc up as a fish interrupted him getting a back scratch from me.

And no, the cuttle did not end up in my catch bag.  He or she still swims

Cheers Pete

Cuttlies are like pets, but are so good on the plate too. The brother is flying up in a couple of weeks and bringing us up a few to chew, probably what I miss eating the most from down south.

Pete didn't mention he had to get his glove dry-cleaned to get the cuttlefish spaff off it either.

Great footage, thanks for sharing .  Amazing how they move around underwater effortlessly, didn't seem at all worried by you.  Just reminds me of that dude from Pirates of the Caribean,  that Geoffrey Rush plays...

Great work Pete. How's the water temp at the moment? See any cockroaches on the dive?

hahaha, was only 1 tonne of wood to move Alfred.  Even did a night dive after this one - now that was a top dive!

I don't mind cuttle on the tooth either...but not the ones that I interact with.

One little Dhuie, DhuBoi.  Apart from the skippy and a few little reefies, the area was quite barron of fish.  Obviously gets a hammering from the Rotto boaties.  Did see a lot of rigs on the reef too.

Water temp a little cooler then your local bath Soupy.  Was about 20.  Only saw one cray at the very end of the dive and he looked lonely, so I encouraged him to join myself on my boat.  Brad hunted the whole area for crays, saw a few, but all too deep.

Cheers Pete

Great footage Pete, It does make you think twice about taking Cuttlfish as they always look like puppy dogs underwater.

Just wondering what sort of camera gear are you using for the vid. Clarity and focus was great.
