how long can you freeze fish for ?

Hi sportsfans
I've just dug some gummie, some jewie, and some s. bluefin tuna out of the bottom of the freezer.
It's been there for 13 months. Planning to eat it tomorrow night - do I need a plan b ?
My experience is that larger sharks can improve after 3 months in the freez, but for everything else fresh is way best.
But once we get to a year and more - what can I expect ?

Ive eaten non vac-sealed fish 18 months old, and it was ok. not as good as fresh, but still better than some shit you'll buy at supermarkets.
vac sealed, definitely ok IMO. although that tuna will probably be fooked... pelagics seem to not keep for as long for some reason.

Japs freeze their tuna to -40 or so with 2 stage compressors etc as the oil doesnt freeze properly at your usual -10 to-18 freezer

was it killed (ikijima or throat cut) put straight into a iced seawater slurry....processed quickly, vac sealed and put in the bottom of a chest freezer on full ?:easy 18 months plus here.
or was it put in a kill tank for half an hour/kill eski in the sun while keeping fishing, then transferred to an eski which was ....cool with a couple of blocks of ice on the bottom. processed at home after 6 hours in a "cool" eski put in a non sealed plastic bag and put in an upright freezer turned to medium to save power?: possibly only 3 months here.

As others have said, if vac sealed it will easilt last 13 months. If not then in my experience 6 months possibly more depending on how it is packed.

I fillet then cram into an 2 litre icecream container full of seawater.domestic upright freezers run at -21c if there is no air in the container storage life is
about 3 million years

well the frozen fish was delish
Except for the sbt which looked dodgy as Scotto predicted so that is buried in the garden.
All fish were iki jimied, went straight into an ice salt slurry, and fillets were vac sealed.
Couscous with lighly roasted nuts and raisins makes for a tasty side I might add.

Eat it
Don't even think of a plan B, it will be as good as when you put it in there unless there is a bit of freezer burn.
Never vacuum packed any of my fish, filleted and just 2 or 3 wraps of Gladwrap and into freezer, no washing fillets either.
