Hillarys

was down at hillaries today. started at the lighthouse and got a small skippy. about an hour later, i had a big run on my bigger gear and brought in a nice big landbased skippy. i was about to go and pick it up outta the water when it bent my gang hook and got away. i then moved down next to the restuarant and honsu was there. him and his mates were gettin stuck into lotsa nice skippy and a few herring. they gave the herring to me and i kept them. (will post up pictures later when i get them) one was 29cm and the other was 28cm. maybe honsu could fill you guys with the rest of the info

It is funny how one wall can be hot one day and the other

Tue, 2008-07-08 20:30

fairly quiet. Then visa versa. And it is not always down to wind conditions. That's the joy of fishing though. Trying out different spots, ideas, baits, rigs, etc and never knowing what is going to happen to the next bait or lure you throw out.

The tides can make a big difference at the North Wall tommo

Tue, 2008-07-08 20:37

As I suggested in my pm, start up a diary, see what tides work, what phase the moon is in, the weather conditions, what you caught, etc. At some time it will all match up and you will be able to go, I caught heaps at this spot that time and hopefully it will all tally up.

all of my luck has come from

Wed, 2008-07-09 18:00

all of my luck has come from the south wall.  I've caught nothing but blowies from the north wall.  May have to give it a go soon though, as the south wall didn't fire for me last time out.

HERRING

Fri, 2008-07-11 15:27

Friday afternoon 2pm the herring were as thick as guts at the disabled platform north wall of hillarys .You could have chucked a brick and stuned half a dozzen .

An old chap pulled a couple of tailor out, only just size.

It would certainly be worth a try sat morning.

It sure was windy but it didnt stop the fish biting. Its the best time to get a feed of herring  .You get some nice  fish hanging around after a bit of a blow.Looking for the wash ups.

Im going in the morning mite see you down there about seven , you will probably need a wooly hat .
