Gnaraloo- Leaving dinghy at the Bay
Submitted by Smithy27 on Sat, 2017-06-03 18:46
Hi all.
Heading to Gnaraloo for the first time next month. I'm trying to decide wether or not to drag the dinghy up there on top of the camper.
As I won't have a boat trailer there I will need to unload the boat at Gnaraloo bay and leave it there until we head off again.
Can you leave your dinghy at Gnaraloo bay on the beach(out of the launching area) or at anchor? Is it protected enough?
And is it even worth taking the tinny up there?
Any advice or tips(and places to fish haha) will be much appreciated.
Cheers

Ok
Been a while since I was up there but would guess its ok to leave the dinghy in the bay, just make sure its pulled well up the beach because if you cop a northerly it comes straight in the anchorage area,
Definitely worth taking it up there, whether you fish out in the bay or on the tide south of Shark Alley there is some good spanglies to be caught in the reef holes and channels

Yep ,
Just leave it at the top of the hill.
You will need approx 30m of rope strong enough to drag it up the sand dune where you will be able to leave it.
It would take a good 4 - 5m swell event to give you any reason to be concerned. I have retreived back on the trailer the day before such a swell and carnage for those that didnt... capsized boats!
3 mile is great for a small tinnie just watch others first. Take a good look at the path they take out of the lagoon and dont be going in or out on low tide(big tides)
Reverse cycle a/c supply and install - Ducted and wall splits

Sounds like it is easier to put the tinny in at 3 mile where we are camping.
