Die Hard I think the guy is struggling a little bit with his
english. I am sure a lot of us would battle to explain fishy things in egyptian or lebanese - or wherever he is from.

No worries
At least Hakim seems keen, if a little confused.

How about some real tips on flyfishing from the beach.
Its not so easy when the water keeps shifting back & forth unlike lakes & rivers.

NOT easy from a beach with Breakers
But do-able. You need to get wet, and I wouldn't wear wadders just incase you get knocked over. It is a lot easier and very do-able with a still day, eg Tim's Thicket in Mandurah where you will certainly get into some herring at least. Busy spot with people so watch your back cast.
Use a crazy charlie fly and berley and let it rip, then fast strips. I use a wt forward, sinking tip, but I think a floater would be just as good, as herring will hit the suface fly.
I would like to use a lower wt setup, but tend to use the 8wt to get a slightly longer cast. With the 4 and 6 wt I just dont seem to get there enough. But then I am not the best fly caster out there.

That sounds like a lot of fun & even practice,crasny1
i just have to find Tims thicket. please dont tell me i need a 4 wheel drive, mate. It would be ideal cos my daughter & family are moving back after 8 months in Darwin so weve had no reason to hit Mandurah for a while. Tell me about crazy charlie. I suppose its a streamer fly?

You will need a 4X4, or a bit of a walk
Crazy Charlies are a little streamer fly/
Sorry about the walk or 4X4.

Walk is OK
when you are only carrying a graphite rod. Thats the beauty of flyfishing, just a vest of flies, a light rod & you can walk for miles. Dont fancy carrying a bucket of berley tho, its not kosher!

At tims there is usually other dudes there to berley em up
Just go there and you are bound to get into herring at least. Never thought it would happen but even hooked some stopper whiting (and I think they were sandies from memory not yellowfin) with the Crazy Charlie. Go figure, they must have been confused.

still dont get the use of a
still dont get the use of a treble hook in terms of baiting, live of dead. The only circumstance where i can expect it to work would be tailor fishing where the treble is used to cover the extra "meat" on the mulie that the gangs wont otherwise cover.

treble is a 100% hook up,
treble is a 100% hook up, cos it gets swallowed so dont do it if you intend to catch and release.

I`ve never seen a fly yet with a treble hook yet!
hey daboo you must be as confused as hakim. Flies are artificial lures usually made from very light materials like feathers & so require special rods & lines to take the place of sinkers so that the flies can be presented to the fish. There is no bait used.

I have 4
So all off them vary. 4-5wt, 8wt, 10wt and a Salt water weapon 14wt. Yet to fly cast this one. Just drift a big fly down current. They all range in size but traditionally all about 9 ft +/- a few.
If you want to know exactly let me know.

Not the best fly fish by far on here, but just like collecting things _ just because I might use it!!!!
